I’m an art writer, novelist and artist. I’m the author of books about looking at art, including Great Paintings Explained and How to Read Paintings. I help people get more from art by delving deep into individual works and exploring the stories behind them.
I’m also a novelist, and have recently completed a trilogy of books set in between 1928 and 1933 in Berlin, Germany. The Berlin Tales explore the Roaring Twenties in all their heady and tumultuous glory, with a healthy pinch of mystery and suspense thrown in.
